Marleen Scholten and Walter Bart: HISTORY OF MY STIFFNESS

6 till 8 of June 2018
Theater Rotterdam,
Rotterdam, Netherlands

Together with twenty stiff Dutch people Marleen Scholten and Walter Bart are making a movement-performance about the inability to move according to our own will, and investigates whether our cultural background determines how we move. Via the ‘woodenshoe’ dance and ‘gabberhouse’ they end up in South America, the continent of flexible hips. What is the reason the Dutch are so stiff? Maybe because of their calvinims of the clay? Are all other cultures really born more flexible?
