Ready to Change: Rethinking the Relationship between Artists and Communities
organized in the framework of the Create to Connect project.
The conference will take place in Ljubljana on the 22nd and the 23rd of April 2015. We are hosting a pre-event on the 21st of April with Roberto Fratini Serafide and Roger Bernat. The one day workshop titled FORMS OF PARTICIPATION will analyse the genealogy of participatory theatre, the reasons which have made it a genre in itself over the last decade, and finally, it will explore the ideological motivations of its evolution.
The program of the conference consists of two morning keynote lectures by;
Roberto Fratini Serafide titled LITURGIES OF IMPATIENCE, tackling the interactive formats of participatory theatre, their relation to the post-modern paradigm and the extent of its emancipation potential. Lectures will be followed by moderated discussions.
and a lecture by
Bojana Kunst on the rise of participatory and communal artistic practices and their relation to the precarisation of artistic production, titled WHAT HAS PARTICIPATION TO DO WITH PRECARISATION?
The afternoon debates will adress two topics;
The first session will address FAILED ATTEMPTS OF INCLUSION. We will be learning from past mistakes and talk about participatory artistic projects and efforts where ambitions and results greatly diverged.
The second session will be dedicated to APPROAC HING YOUNG AUDIENCES. We will address new approaches to development of young audiences and analyse concrete approaches like artists entering the educational system and youth-focused artistic projects.
The program will finish every night with artistic programme, starting on the 21st of April with SOUL, NOISE, VALVE and WIRE, a performance Tomaž Grom created with street musicians. On the April 22nd we will present (in collaboration with Aksioma Institute) THE GAME OF WAR, an evening dedicated to the tactics, essential for survival in the Fordist society according to Guy Debord. The evening will include a lecture by Richard Barbrook, a movie screening, exhibition opening and board game playing. On the 23rd interesting Slovene artists will be inviting you for ARTISTIC DINNERS.
Organised transport to the IETM meeting in Bergamo (Italy) will be available on the 24th of April for the attendants of the conference.
